NJ Concern For China hasn't added a story.
Growing up as an Asian American female in the United States, I've had the privilege of a joyful and active childhood—spending time with friends, playing sports, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. It's easy to take for granted the ability to run, walk, see, and hear, but these are privileges not everyone shares. Around the world, millions of children face challenges that prevent them from experiencing life as fully as we do.
In China, the stigma surrounding disabilities often leads to children being abandoned and left without the care and support they need. My neighbor was adopted from China and lives with a skin condition. I have grown up playing with him in our backyards and having him over for Chinese New Year every year. This inspired me to think about how while he was fortunate to grow up in a loving home, many other children in China aren't as lucky.
Inspired by his story, I’ve decided to take action by starting a campaign through Walk The Wall to raise funds for children with disabilities in China. This is an opportunity for us to extend our compassion beyond our immediate surroundings and make a difference in the global community. I invite you to join me in supporting this vital cause and helping to create a better future for these children.
Join us for Walk the Wall 2024 on Oct 5-6, 2024
ICC is working to transform the lives of the most vulnerable children in China.
For 17 years we have walked the wall because we believe every child with a disability deserves loving compassion and care.Together we will spread the word and raise much-needed funds to give children with disabilities the love, hope and opportunity they need to thrive. Join us on October 5-6, 2024 to build a brighter future for these children and families!
- Providing 24hr care for over 60 children and youth in our family-style group homes with love and compassion in Changsha
- Surrounding hundreds of families in need with support who are caring for a child with a disability at home, so they know they aren't alone
- Bringing vocational and job opportunities to young people with disabilities to enable them to reach their full potential
For Walk the Wall 2024 we encourage participants to walk individually, with a friend, family, business, or church group in their own cities. Every person that walks in their community is making a difference in the lives of children in China. Thank you so much for continuing to make Walk the Wall a success year after year!
