Before you go, did you know that simply by sharing this campaign, you could help it raise $30? It's an effective way to support the cause.
No thanksIskwew Air hasn't added a story.
The Iskwew Air team took to the skies on Friday, July 31 to deliver the latest AirLIFT delivery to THREE communities in the far north of BC – Dease Lake, Telegraph Creek and Iskut. We were greeted by community members from the Tahltan Nation who loaded goods and supplies into their trucks to disperse amongst the communities, while the young ones explored the Sweetgrass Warrior.
It was a big day – with five hours of flight each way, the distance between Vancouver and Dease Lake is like travelling from Vancouver to Winnipeg!
Special thanks to Cove Continuity Advisors for sponsoring an entire community! Gratitude to Backpack Buddies, Aisle, Electric Bicycle Brewing Company, Sisters Sage, BC Fresh Vegetables, Houweling Nurseries, Thai Roots Trading, the Edwards Family, Adina Chang, Nicole Lynd and to everyone else that’s supported the AirLIFT Campaign. We are all feeling so blessed to have been welcomed into such a beautiful territory… and hope to be able to visit again soon!
Teara delivered seeds, sanitary goods, protective gear, blueberry plants, and a lot more that was requested by the community in Alert Bay.
Alert Bay is a remote Indigenous community (Namgis First Nation) on Cormorant Island, the community is on lockdown and has experienced the death of young Indigenous woman and an Elder from COVID-19. http://www.alertbay.ca/about-alert-bay
The second trip went to the Alberni Valley Regional Airport (Port Alberni, BC) to LIFT the Tseshaht First Nation. https://tseshaht.com/
A circle of Indigenous women and SheEO activators have been coming together for weeks to share the needs and offerings in radical generosity. This became so much more important as the COVID-19 crisis unfolded, and resulted in the Indigenous LIFT Collective initiative to co-create the conditions for Indigenous women in business to first survive, and go on to THRIVE.
Teara Fraser, pilot, CEO of Iskwew Air, and SheEO Activator was one of the women who organized the coming together. She is also the first Indigenous woman to launch an airline in Canada, Iskwew Air.
Teara hears through her networks about the Indigenous communities and what their needs are, varying from food and masks to garden seeds for example.
In this crowdfunding campaign, we raise funds so Teara can fly the essential needs or services to the remote Indigenous communities that are not getting the bare essentials that they need.
Supplies are sourced locally and through Indigenous ventures as much as possible. Your generosity will make it possible to get essentials to communities that are not on the radar of others.
The second flight was completed by a generous donation of a SheEO activator who donated $4000
In the meantime, Christie Geiss, another SheEO activator, donated a whole flight, and we are collecting the details from the community to serve! So stand by for updates!
