We did it! Isaac not only met his birth father and his birth mother and his tutu and his sister!

Twenty-nine years ago, Isaac was lovingly placed for adoption. Raised by wonderful parents, Isaac always knew he was adopted, and also knew he was loved. The love a child feels for parents often flows on, extending to birth parents; even when nothing is known about who or where they are. For Isaac, the love he felt for the birth parents he never knew, compelled him to search. Now that he's found his birth father, Isaac hopes to finally meet and hug the man he's never met, the man with whom he shares so much; his birth father Tommy.
Isaac Castillo
Isaac is a hard working musician who lives and supports himself playing music in the Seattle area. The funds raised will help him get to Hawaii where he will meet his birth father; will help his father, a retired community volunteer come to Honolulu from his neighboring island, to meet his son; will pay for rental car and will cover nominal costs of documenting the meeting. Ideally this meeting will be funded enough for the creation of a documentary, intended to inspire others considering open adoption, or curious about the process of parent and child reunification.

Hawaii International Child (HIC) is a state licensed non-profit adoption agency. HIC has been creating and supporting families through adoption work since 1975. Recently HIC has experienced a large increase in the number of requests for search and reunion assistance. Children, birth parents, siblings, all in search of family members lost through the adoption process.

Answering the call, HIC has started a pro bono Search and Reunion Program (SARA). While there is no guarantee that each case will offer the same overwhelming success of Tommy and Isaac and their story, we handle each inquiry on a case by case basis. Each member of the adoption triad, or each member sought, must give full consent before any reunification can take place. Our Honolulu counseling center provides additional face to face support for those seeking adoption-related counseling services.

Tommy Ching, birth father of Isaac Castillo

We thank you for your support of Tommy and Isaac. With your generosity you are changing their lives and supporting the idea that love matters!
