We are an amateur Speed Skating Club from Franklin Park Illinois. Speed Skating is an exciting and at times dangerous sport. It is second to hockey as a most watched winter Olympic event, however, it is not as commercially successful as hockey. United States is well respected and has produced a number of World and Olympic Champions.   As a matter of fact, Speed Skating is the most successful US winter Olympic sport.   We have won more Olympic medals in Speed Skating than in any other winter event.  Nevertheless, governmental support for this sport is nonexistent. Our closest competitors Korea, China, Russia and Netherlands are all spending millions on development and training facilities. In the U.S.A. individual clubs and skaters depend on donors like you for their success and survival. You may remember few years ago comedian Stephen Colbert was the sole individual sponsor of the US National Team.

We are asking for your help in raising funds to increase safety at our training facility. Our skaters could reach the speeds of 40mph. Hitting the wall at those speeds could be very dramatic. We depend on the mats to provide a safety barrier and eliminate injuries. These mats deteriorate over time and need replacement every few years. Currently we can’t cover the whole rink and would love to cover every inch of ice rink’s wall with safety mats.  Without these mats there is no Speedskating.

Every dollar counts and will be appreciated. All funds collected would be spent on the replacements mats or be put in a reserve fund for future replacement. Again, without these mats there is no Speedskating.

Thank you and see you at the next Olympic Games!  Go USA!
