Ushirika School is located in the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya and
is a longtime partner of One
Girl Can. Due to the global pandemic, many schools in Kenya have
been closed since March and they will remain closed until 2021 to
ensure the safety of students and communities.
As a response to the school closures, Ushirika School founder,
David Kitavi started a program to continue mentoring and hosting 54
girls, including 7 girls who don't attend Ushirika School but live in
the neighbourhood.
The program furthers the goal-setting workshops initiated by One
Girl Can and also provides education about COVID-19. Students are
learning more about the virus, how to stay safe, how to cope with the
social and emotional effects, and more.
Some topics covered include:
One Girl Can remains committed to helping girls cultivate innovative
minds and continue to encourage them to pursue their dreams. Please
donate today to help us finish rebuilding Ushirika and continue to
support the needs of our girls.
