Education is the foundation for the future.

One in five children are left out of the classroom every day. More than half of these kids live in Sub-Saharan Africa. Instead of equipping themselves with skills for the future, children are stuck at home, looking after younger siblings or helping their parents tend to the field. Their future is being sacrificed in the face of current need, and the cycle of poverty spins on and on …

But often being in school isn’t enough. A lack of properly trained teachers, physical punishment, and out of date learning techniques mean that many children aren’t receiving the education they deserve.

The world is facing an education crisis, and it’s time we did something about it.

How does Wellspring do it?

The Wellspring Foundation for Education works to empower new generations of Rwandan children with the quality education they deserve, by investing deeply in their school leaders, teachers, parents, and wider communities. This work is currently impacting over 200,000 children, as 183 public schools are transformed into vibrant learning communities in which children can thrive and fulfill their potential.

This sparks a heart-level transformation where teachers recognize their own value and the value of the children they serve.

Such heart transformation results in incredible change in school communities: improved exam results, more children completing primary school and transitioning to secondary, increased teacher confidence, and more committed and servant-hearted leadership.
