40 Weeks running

More than 1,000 refugees are sleeping rough in the streets of Paris. They mainly come from Eritrea, Sudan, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Iran, Iraq and are fleeing war, persecution, death, torture, dictatures.

They are men, women, children, are seeking a refuge and are being let down by our governments. Those sleeping in the streets are caught up in various struggles They are either new comers arriving (mostly) from Italy and before that Libya, who haven't claimed asylum anywhere yet. For some, Paris is a step on their journey to claim asylum trying to reach the UK or other European countries. Some are unable to claim asylum in France due to the Dublin procedure but cannot go back to their first country of entry. Some have claimed asylum but haven't been offered an accommodation by the French authorities.

In any case, all of them have been through a horrendous journey to reach Europe and are currently living in inhumane conditions.

This week we will be heading out to the streets of Paris with portable camping stoves to brew up hot drinks, food and lighting up the refugee tents with our cosy pocket cinema. Hanging out with the people there we will figure out in a case by case basis what people need - clothing, blankets, food and directly provide these things to the people. 100% of the money goes directly to the refugees, all travel and accommodation is paid for ourselves.
