| This project strengthens food access across the school while
creating meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for students.
At its heart, the program brings students with special needs into
the planning, shopping, and cooking process, helping them build
life skills, independence, and confidence. Working alongside
peers, they co-create simple, nourishing recipes that reflect the
school’s diverse community and prepare shared meals in a
supportive environment. These activities foster leadership,
connection, and real-world skills such as budgeting, meal
planning, and navigating local markets. Beyond the kitchen, the project ensures that all students can access healthy snacks and meals through discreet, low-barrier food hubs placed throughout the school. These stations allow students to take what they need privately and without gatekeeping, helping reduce stigma around food support. By combining inclusive food programming with collaborative meal preparation, the initiative builds a school-wide culture of care, dignity, and empowerment—one where students support one another, develop essential life skills, and contribute to a community where everyone is nourished and welcomed.
