At Cherryville Elementary, a rural school an hour away from Vernon, many students face food insecurity due to rising living costs. To combat this, the school plans to provide a weekly lunch program, ensuring that students receive nutritious meals packed with fruits and vegetables.
This initiative not only supports students' health but also engages the community. Local volunteers will prepare and serve these meals, strengthening the bond between the school and its surroundings. However, funding is needed to keep this program running smoothly.
