Anne Stokes Fournier hasn't added a story.
Hello, I'm known as Anna (my hubbies preferred name for me)
On August 5th I did not feel well, I had already been suffering from deep depression, anxiety, panic attacks, lack of nutrition & problems with the heat the province was suffering from which had started to play havoc with a condition I suffer with called POTS.
My full memory of the incident is not there as I not only passed out but in doing so I fell down at least 8 steps, suffering a blow to my face and head which kept me unconscious, the ambulance service believes, for a considerable time.
I fell down hard tiled steps onto a concrete basement floor. It took them approximately an hour to safely extract me, I had much to their horror, & looking back, stupidly moved myself (thanks adrenaline). In first becoming conscious I was aware of a severe pain to my lower back, neck, shoulder and lips and had loss of feeling, especially in my right leg (my left leg being cut open)
At the hospital I was admitted to the ER as a trauma patient, undergoing many tests such as blood work, xrays and CT Scans. In the ambulance on the way to hospital I suffered an allergic reaction to Morphine, something I have been ok with previous. Morphine was stopped and fentanyl was administered causing further allergic response, this did not help my anxiety and caused further panic.
Whilst being monitored it was noted that my Co2 was dropping & they were unsure why, it hovered between 88/89 when at min it should be approx 95. I was therefore placed on oxygen.
After review I have soft tissue/muscle damage to my neck, to my shoulder and cuts to my inside lip. My lower back is heavily bruised & with small lower fracture. I have swelling causing pressure on my nerves so can't feel my legs as normal, worse in my right leg & have therefore not been able to walk well, each movement causing aggressive spasms in my lower back.
I am highly medicated for the pain, I have to use walking aids, have an arm/shoulder sling, will need various check ups, physio and have months of recovery ahead of me.
What many do not understand is that I'm carer to my hubby who suffers severe mental health issues & does not cope at all well if I'm not near. This has caused an even more significant worry.
The mental, physical and financial toll is already showing. We were already struggling financially for bills, food, medications & keeping a roof above us.
We don't live in a city, are very remote & the rental house not only is costly but it is also dangerous, especially for someone as myself with medical needs.
I'm trying this fundraiser in the hope we will have enough to support not only my medical needs but those of my hubbies, financial security with bills, food & help to relocate to a safer place to call home.
Thank you
