38 Weeks running

Last week we were contacted by one of the shelters we work with and rushed to save 5 doxies left stranded on the side of a road…there were 6, but one was tragically and senselessly run down and killed.  This is one of the hardest parts of rescue.  We have nicknamed the group the Fab 5: Abby, Kevin, Dieter, Blaze and Kyle.

All terrified.  All exposed to fighting, probably as bait dogs.  Dieter, Blaze and Kyle appear to be just over a year old.  What a horrible way to start life.  All need medical attention.

Immediately we reached out to our Medical Team and formed a plan.  Kevin is clearly the oldest of the group and will require the most support.  His jaw is damaged, he has a peritoneal hernia and carries many scars including partially missing ear flaps.  We estimate his medical costs to be $3500.

Dieter, Blaze and Kyle appear to be litter brothers and all show signs of liver issues and will need an ultrasound to determine the level of severity of their problems.   Add another $1500 to the medical total here.

Finally, there is little Abby.  Her teats hang down from being used to breed repeatedly and there is are masses in two of her mammary glands.  This will cost us around $1500 to correct.

Incredibly, these little ones remain sweet and loving.  They only want to be held and find that soft to lay their heads and rest.  We have hope.

Today we are reaching out and are asking for your help.  Please say you can.  The Cocvid-19 virus has left us really strapped so your gift today will mean so very much.  Prayers and well wishes are great, but they do not pay the bills.  Please step up and make a difference.  They all so desperately need you.  This will be the first step on a road to what we hope will be a full recovery for the Fab 5.  Please help us reach our goal of $6500; you can make a difference.

Remember, generous support is desperately needed and greatly appreciated.  Like many non-profit organizations DRBC is a 501[c][3] operated solely by volunteers.  We have been dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, re-homing and educating families about this breed for over 36 years.  We welcome and need your benevolent tax-deductible donation.  Please, help us to help them.

We welcome you to stay tuned for updates.  Until then, the Fab 5, all the rescue doxies and the DRBC Team thank you.
