We are raising funds to create a series of short videos to educate & raise awareness against violence towards women in developing countries. Through awareness, information and education, we can make a difference, not just now, but for all time.

Equal Independence Appeal

We are raising funds for a project to educate and raise awareness about violence and mistreatment towards women due to cultural issues. We are in desperate need of your help to make this project a reality.

Any amount is appreciated, and every donation goes a long way.

We believe that through awareness, information and education, we can make a difference, not just now, but for our future, and for all time.

The Cause:

Every day, hundreds of women around the world are abused, raped, disrespected and mistreated. We are living in the 21st century, yet in many cultures women are not seen as equals, or even human beings that deserve equal respect. In some countries, this behavior is accepted, and in many countries, it is completely overlooked.

In India, every 3 minutes, a gender based crime against a woman is committed. In Indonesia, reported violent crimes against women have increased by 29.4% from 2013-2014. The majority of these crimes go unreported. Those that are, are not taken seriously, even by those in influential positions. In most cases, the perpetrators never suffer any consequences at all. This is not something to be taken lightly, and something must be done about it.

For those of us who were fortunate enough be born in a part of the world where these issues are not seen as commonplace, it is time for us to take a stand.

Just because it’s not happening here, doesn’t mean it’s not happening now.

As human beings, it is our responsibility to take action against this behavior, even if it is not happening in our home country.

We are not a feminist group. We are not a charity, nor are we linked to any government organization. We are a voice to bring attention to a situation that should be on the forefront of national discussion. We are a voice to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves; for those who cannot be heard.

 The Project:

Our plan is to create a series of short, effective and educational animated videos of 30 seconds – 2 minutes in length, to be launched in August 2016. The videos will be created in different languages to target those of different cultures and maximize the effect. The goal is to spread awareness and bring widespread attention to this issue.

Unlike TV stations and other media, we do not need to raise millions of dollars to make this possible.

We are in need of a relatively small amount, considering the size of the cause. The funds raised will go directly to the production of the educational videos, which we will try to produce as cost effectively as possible. We will then use our own resources to spread these videos across various platforms in the online world, to reach millions of people of different cultures.

The videos will be posted on YouTube and broadcast across Social Media to raise global awareness for the issue of mistreatment of women. These will be targeted to reach millions across Asia, specifically India and Indonesia.

We believe the most effective period to launch this campaign is August, as major countries of the region celebrate their Independence Day in that month.

It is important to raise the issue that Independence and Freedom is not just for men, but for all mankind. It’s about time that independence is applied to all.

You can Make a Difference

This is why we need your help—not only in funding, but in spreading the awareness. Updates will be posted on our Facebook Page here. Please help us to spread the word.

As we want this campaign to be live soon, we need to get started ASAP to meet our deadline.

We appreciate any help, and every amount goes a long way. Thank you for your support.
