My name is Dainty and I am a gorgeous wee 5 year old rescue Staffie. When I first came to live with my mummy in February 2012 she knew I was having some seizures and thought it might be a form of epilepsy, Sadly an MRI scan showed that my immune system had been attacking my brain and it was life threatening. I was getting treatment of chemotherapy and medication but had a relapse in December 2013 and almost died - the vets are baffled as it is now on the other side of my brain - there are no known cases of this in the world and they do not know how this has happened.
They vets tried another type of stronger chemotherapy and more medication - I was very ill at first but the treatment has really helped. I was on this chemo for a year (maximum length of time) and am now back on the original chemotherapy at 4 weeks intervals and on a minimum of 12.5 tablets a day. I know this sounds a lot but this treatment is keeping me alive and I am doing really well - I love playing with my toys and my pal Max, going for my walks, eating, and snuggling with my mum and my sister Sky.Unfortunately the insurance my mum had for me ran out over a year ago and she is funding it harder and harder to pay my vet for helping me My vets have given a good discount but it still costs lots of money every month. My mummy hates asking people for donations but has decided that she needs to as she LOVES ME SO MUCH - and believe me I am very loveable.
If you can help, or even share my story, I would be very happy. Thanks you for reading about me, Sending lots of very waggy tails, Dainty, my sister Sky and our humans xxx
