Help Sound Theatre Company Create Accessible Art for All! Help us Fundraise $10,000 between Sept 19th-27th!
At Sound Theatre Company, we believe that everyone deserves the magic of live theatre. Yet, we face a pressing challenge: fundraising. Traditional methods, like walk-a-thons or ice bucket challenges, can be exclusive, especially for members of the disability community. We are on a mission to change that.
Transforming Fundraising with a Nap-a-thon!
Introducing our innovative fundraising initiative: the Nap-a-thon!!!(creation of Ingrid Tischer) Instead of a taxing activity, we're making fundraising as easy as sponsoring a nap. From Sept 19th-27th, our Peer to Peer fundraiser makes it easy to make teams of 'Naptivists'(term created by Ingrid Tischer) and raise funds through napping. We will hold social media contests and be posting winners daily as you take a 20 min power nap for $20. The possibilities for creativity are endless and we are here for it. This creative approach isn’t just a fun twist; it's a statement against ableism, capitalism, and the belief that productivity is the only pathway to success. Rest is a fundamental right, and at Sound Theatre Company, we proudly champion that rest is for everyone.
What Your Support Will Fund
Your generous contributions will pave the way for exceptional accessibility in our theatre. Accessibility like: ASL Interpretation, CART/Open Captioning, large print materials, sensory-friendly shows, tactile tours, etc. We aim to enhance our marketing efforts to reach those in need of exposure to anti-racist and anti-ableist theatre work. Furthermore, your donations will provide our talented actors and creators with better pay—enabling us to create and showcase even more incredible works.
Making a Real Impact
With your help, we can broaden our audience's reach. Contributions will ensure that we produce more shows and better accommodations for our patrons and creators in our community of artists.
Stay Connected and Get Involved!
We value each individual who supports our mission. During this campaign, we promise to keep you informed every step of the way! Follow us on our social media platforms for updates, participate in our exciting contests, and expect heartfelt communications from us through emails, phone calls, and personalized letters celebrating your invaluable support for our theatre.

Sound
Theatre Company empowers artists to give voice to
the dignity and
diversity of the human experience– moving audiences toward a more just
and compassionate world.
History: Founded in Seattle, WA in 2006 with an
experimental performance of
Shakespeare’s The Tempest in the
water and on the shore of Lake Sammamish.
Today: A small-to-mid-sized ($500,000) theatre
company, operating through shared
artist leadership, offering
year-round public programming.
Core Work: Known for engaging emerging artists and
producing challenging, authentic
stories that spark conversation
and ignite social change.
Year-Round Programming: Live mainstage and workshop
performances for diverse
audiences and professional development
opportunities for artists.
Rooted in Artists and Community: One of few theatres
in the Puget Sound constantly
investing in creating new plays and
transformative storytelling that centers disabled
artists, queer
artists, and artists of color historically excluded from traditional theatre.
Audiences: In a typical year, Sound Theatre reaches
4,000 people. As of 2022, 17% of
audiences were BIPOC.
Partnership-Driven: To create more equitable theatre,
co-produces and shares
resources with other disabled theatres and
theatres of color like The Hansberry Project,
Seattle Native
Artists Group, LANGSTON, Deaf Spotlight, eSe Teatro, BrownBox
Theatre,
and Pratidhwani.
Accessible: Reduces barriers for artists and
audiences with Radical Hospitality
Choose-Your-Own ticket prices
and a dedicated on-staff Accessibility Coordinator.
Performances
offer ASL Interpretation, CART/Open Captioning, large print
materials,
Sensory-Friendly shows, tactile tours, and flexible,
barrier-free seating. Support for artist
well-being includes paid

childcare
reimbursement, sick leave, anti-oppressive rehearsal
practices, and affinity groups.
Award-Winning: Recognized for many years by Theatre
Puget Sound’s Gregory Awards,
including most recently, a 2024
People’s Choice Nomination. Sound Theatre’s first film
project,
Changer: A Hand Telling, produced in the pandemic, has won dozens of
local,
national, and international film festival laurels.
Growing: Beginning in 2020, even while
responding to the pandemic’s impact, new
grants and contributions
ignited significant growth, transforming the company from
a
small, volunteer-led project to a staffed, professional theatre
company, working to
expand audiences, artistic capacity, and operations.
In 2024, after 18 years moving among
rented performance venues in Seattle, Sound
Theatre became one of
four resident theatre companies through Theatre Puget
Sound’s
Space4Arts Program, sharing dedicated performance and rehearsal
space
in the Centre Theatre at the Seattle Center Armory with
other resident theatres:
The 14/48 Projects, Latitude Theatre,
and Parley.
