We fell in love with Mary Moo - a pretty polydactyl clown cat when we saw her on ACC First Alerts. Unfortunately, she was deemed aggressive, so she was eartipped, and released as a feral cat in the Bronx. Somehow, after twists and turns she ended up with us, turned out to be a very sweet cat (who did not enjoy vet visits, alas), and all seemed great until ...  she went into heat about a month later.  It was strange because she was eartipped and had a spay scar.

We decided to pursue the least invasive way possible to figure out why she walks like a crocodile and makes meowy noises, and got her an ultrasound to find out if there were remnants of her ovaries and where. The ultrasound ($250 at a rescue discount) showed all that in addition to enlarged pancreas and swollen lymph nodes.

Her (re)spay surgery was combined with exploratory surgery of her abdomen to biopsy of the abnormal organs.

The surgery went well, Mary was spayed yet again. In the process it turned out she had only one kidney. Samples were sent to a lab and returned - the good news is that Mary's organs were inflamed but there is no sign of cancer. Mary is back home recovering and wearing a giant cone.

We are very happy for Mary Moo whose story had more twists and turns than Raymond Chandler's novel. But we need to pay the $2300 bill! Will you help us? Just look at this adorable little face!
