Hello all! Welcome to my fundraising page. As you may or may not know, I went to eating disordered residential earlier this year. From January 3rd to March 4th I was in 24/7 treatment in Milwaukee. It was there that I was put on a meal plan and began difficult therapy sessions to conquer the disorders of anorexia and depression that were slowly killing me. From March 5th until April 20th I did day program, continuing with therapy and working with a dietitian, but working my way back into life as the new me.
"New" me was hard in the beginning. It included setting boundaries, budgeting, trying to afford life, continuing with the hard work of going to therapy weekly, and just showing up. It included moving back into my mom's house and doing a lot of really long drives to get the treatment I need. Despite all the budgeting in the world, I haven't found a way to make things work during this first year in recovery. This is the time where I need to continue seeing my therapist weekly and meeting with my dietitian biweekly. I need certain food groups in certain amounts throughout the day. Despite trying to fight the state for food stamps and emergency cash, $15/month is not going to get me the food I need.
This is where you come in. I'm hoping to raise some money to help out with expenses that I cannot fully pay for on my own. This will include gas money for appointments, costs of appointments that insurance won't cover, food bills to buy food that food stamps won't or food pantries don't have.
I've had people ask...where are you spending all your money that you can't afford this other stuff? Well, here's a break down. I'm currently paying back both the place I received treatment as well as where I stayed for housing monthly. I have car insurance I need to pay for. A storage unit until I'm in my own place in Woodstock. My service dog's food (which is a specialty brand due to her stomach issues) as well as the three daily medications she takes, the as needed medication for vomiting, and her two monthly medications. Some of my medications are out of pocket.
The following amounts will pay for...
$40 will cover an appointment with my dietitian (I see her once to twice a month)
$19 will cover the gas to and from my therapist's office once (I travel from Lombard to Rockford every Monday)
$17 will cover the gas to and from my psychiatrist's office once (I travel from Lombard to Woodstock)
$25 will cover groceries for a full week
$3 will cover the gas to and from my dietitian's office once (I travel from Lombard to Lisle)
Any amount you can afford to give would be appreciated. Recovery means so much to me, and as other people can attest, sometimes it's deciding whether to see your treatment team or buy all of your exchanges from the store for a week. Insurances definitely don't cover all that is needed for eating disorder treatment, and if it is covered you most likely need to travel for it. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on this fight, and I hope you'll help me continue on my journey of recovery.
