Today (June 27) Angelica did what no mother should ever have to do - speak at a press conference organized by her lawyers and the MA ACLU about how her  then seven year old daughter was taken from her at the US/Mexico border by an immigration official who smiled as he wished her Happy Mother's Day then took her child , how her daughter turned 8 alone in detention and how she longs to be reunited with her.  You can watch a video of the press conference here:

Metrowest Worker Center-Casa is raising money to support Angelica in her quest to be reunited with her daughter.  Mom has been released by ICE following a hearing on her request for asylum, but does not yet have authorization to work.  The barriers to reunification from the agency holding the child are huge - fingerprinting in Newark (ICE already has her fingerprints!), proof of stable housing, etc.  Mom will need help with rent, travel to Newark, perhaps air fare to get her daughter, counseling for both of them, clothing and food for several months.  They are being provided legal support by the office of Demissie and Church, and have the support of the MA ACLU.  You might also have seen Attorney General Maura Healey speak of meeting Angelica on the Rachel Maddow show on June 26.

Please help as you are able.  All funds will go directly to the family.  Many thanks.
