UPDATE: Frank needs surgery ASAP. He has developed a peritoneal hernia and will die without help. Please like, share and help us reach his goal of $5,000.

Poor Frankie.  He arrived in a metal crate that was carried in to us.  No blanket.  No towel.  Nothing.  Little did we know that it was because this emaciated pup was in so much pain that no one could touch him.   Neglected and starved we were shocked to learn that his family has refused every test and all but the legal minimum of care for him.  Veterinarians watched as his weight steadily dropped and warned his family.  This is when he showed up at our door with only a Rabies vaccination to show for years of pet ownership.

As many of you know, we do live check-ins of our puppers but we had to cut Frankie’s short as he was suffering so.   It was clear he was in pain.  Some emergency rations and medications for his sore joints allowed us to pull blood and collect urine and what we learned will anger you.

Frankie’s blood showed a strong Lyme response – this meant his joint were in agonizing pain.  His blood chemistries revealed the real horror – he was being starved and not just for a short period.  His values indicated that he had not eaten in a very long time.  It is not wonder we could see into his hip sockets.  This little boy should probably weigh about 15# and checked in at 9#.  His urine revealed a raging infection and follow up radiographs revealed two large stones.

The pain has ended for Frankie.  Food comes 3 times a day now and medication to fight his infections and pain are on board, but we need to remove the stones or he risks death from a blockage that would leave him unable to urinate.  Please help us to help him.  Every gift counts and collectively we can make a difference for Frankie – we need your support to continue lifesaving efforts like his.  Please remember, it takes a village to make an impact in animal abuse and neglect.

Remember, your generous support is desperately needed and greatly appreciated.  Like many non-profit organizations DRBC is a 501[c][3] operated solely by volunteers.  We have been dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, re-homing and educating families about this breed for over 34 years.  We welcome and need your benevolent tax-deductible donation.  Please, help us to help them.

We welcome you to stay tuned for updates.  Until then all the rescue doxies and the DRBC Team thank you.
