There are many beautiful puppies in need of urgent help to get out of Baku, Azerbaijan where they are facing certain death.. Please, help bring them to the US where they have a chance at safe loving homes.

I know, there are dogs here in the states that need help- true but, these beautiful pups need urgent help because they have no options, are out of time, and are in a culture that can be horrific for dogs.  So, we are working with a local rescue (Baku Street Dog Rescue) that is made up of mostly ex-pats working in there area who were shocked & moved by the conditions that the dogs in Baku, Azerbailjan face.  These wonderful volunteers have a time limit to their stay and are desperately working to get these pups out & into safe conditons asap. Your donation will help cover the expenses of getting these dogs to the US where they will be in local no-kill shelters and fosters.  The expenses include flights, paying flight buddies, buying crates, necessary vet attention, & vet paperwork.  Any donation will help tremendously.  Please, re-post.

Here is a little about one of the puppies we are trying to help:

Askar story
"Workers of the International Red Cross in Azerbaijan took this little guy home after they kept crossing him on their morning jogging route. Although we knew we would not be able to permanently adopt him (our life is spent overseas moving every year to a new assignment in war affected areas), we put him in the garden of the house where several of us live together where he would be safe and some of us started caring for him. We were sure we could get him adopted in Azerbaijan. But we have exhausted all possibilities and hope of that. Time was on our side for a long time as the people staying at the house were (more or less) OK to have him around. Now time has run out and we are leaving Azerbaijan and the new people coming in to take over the house do not want him in the garden anymore. The shelters here are all full and anyway his chances of being adopted from a shelter here are pretty much zero. We have taken very good care of him, but his situation is now desperate. He needs a permanent solution to live with people who will care for him and give him a future. As you see by the photos, he is very handsome! He also has a lovely character; he absolutely loves being around people. He is (if anything) a bit over excited when people come into the compound. He jumps and runs all around and just expresses his profound joy to be with you! His early experiences must not have been very good. If you are holding a stick when you approach him, he cringes and skulks away. But if you don't have a stick, he is just happy to see you! He is nearly 2 years old. He lives outside, even in winter because some of the residents of the house did not allow him to be inside. It would be nice for him if he never had to sleep outside in the winter again. We do sometimes sneak him into the house for a couple of hours and he is so very happy and well behaved when he is allowed inside. His name is Askar (a typical Azeri name) and he needs a loving family with room to run around outside. If he gets to actually live indoors with people, he will be in heaven! We sure hope for a happy ending for this little cutie."
