Tasha Howle hasn't added a story.
Hi, I'm Tasha and I need a little help to keep my car, which
literally IS how I earn my income. Let me share my story.
3 years ago (11/30/2014) I started my first "real" job
as an entry level software tester with a major insurance company
making around $50,000/year. I worked hard and became the departmental
expert on mobile applications by the time my first anniversary rolled
around. As the second year of my career began, my life was rapidly
becoming the dream I had worked so long and hard for. In celebration
of this achievement, my father co-signed the loan for a 2012 Ford
Focus SE. It was the last thing he did for me before he died,
unexpectedly, of a cancerous brain tumor on February 9, 2012 (about 2
months after signing for the car loan). Although I was grieving, I was
still excelling in my job, getting debts paid off, and excited about
my life beyond poverty. My alma mater even published an article about
my success in the Spring 2013 issue of Limestone Today (online: http://my.limestone.edu/news-alumni/1598-limestone-alumna-tasha-howle-09-a-fierce-competitor).
June 28, 2013 was my last day employed in software development
because "corporate restructuring eliminated the 'Tester'
position." The severance package and unemployment benefits lasted
around 6 months, including moving into a cheaper apartment. Despite
having had numerous interviews and continually applying to new
postings, I ran out of money last January and had to return to the
pizza delivery job I held prior to becoming a software tester.
Unfortunately, it's been a constant struggle to earn enough just to
keep everything on the verge of disconnect.
I am now supplementing the pizza delivery income by working as
an Uber Driver Partner, an independent contractor paid a percentage of
the fares driven each week. There is no doubt that I can become
relatively stable within 3-6 months by working Uber as much as
physically possible around my pizza delivery work schedule.
......except that Ford needs $583.02 paid by 12/8 to avoid
repossession (next payment of $287.48 due 12/11) AND property tax bill
of $243.67 (after High Mileage discount applied) is due by 12/31 to
keep the plate and registration valid.
I have been denied on payday loans and my few possessions of
value are simply not worth enough to bridge this gap. I'll keep doing
the best I can and being thankful for my blessings.
